The Holmes Percussion Duo, consisting of brothers Cody and Ben Holmes, is a dynamic and innovative percussion ensemble that has captivated audiences with their original compositions and performances. Their original music, composed exclusively Cody and Ben, has been performed in venues across the globe. The duo's music has been described as "Brilliant and Captivating," and "Unique and Groovy" by Percussive Notes. In addition, the duo was awarded 2nd prize in the North International Music Competition, and joined the World Percussion Group for their 2023 virtual tour.

Film Overview:
“Shopping Trip,” created during the first week of the COVID-19 lockdown in the UK, encapsulates the profound worry and unease of that period. The monochrome animation takes the viewer on a solitary journey, capturing the surreal experience of a simple shopping trip transformed by the pandemic’s shadow.
Scoring Objective:
The score should amplify the pervasive sense of dread and the unknown, evoking the emotions felt during that unprecedented time. Your music should transport the audience back to those early lockdown days, mirroring the anxiety and tension.

I have a question about the first 4/4. The notes on the sheet music are a g to a flat to b flat to c flat, yet you do not appear to play those notes. Im not sure if it is my hearing or if I can’t see it correctly, but is that wrong?

Hello! I’m trying to learn this piece, and from the sheets provided the beginning the misprint is leaving me confused. Is the second 5-let not a part of the run? Also in the second measure, the second run is played very differently from what is on the sheets. Can you please elaborate on that second run? I am having trouble understanding the inconsistency.

I love the texture that you layer in with the lower part of the marimba when you do. It’s such an enticing sound that draws me in to listen to the rest of the phrase just to hear more.

I am a drummer on a music highschool (conservatory) and I finished playing Land on marimba. I was looking for what to play next, and my teacher recommended me some really nice things, but it was not exactly my cup of tea, since I wanted to play something energetic and melodic and touching. I was really sad to not find anything I dreamed to play, untill I stumbeled across this amazing piece. It almost made me cry of happiness, not just because it sounds so amazing, but because I found what I was looking for. This channel has amazing pieces and you just catched a new very exited subscriber! I hope your work gets a lot of valuation, since it is so amazing and not like most modern pieces, trying to do some extravagance, wich ot all musicians and sertanly not much people outside of music enjoy. With this piece you got me back on track on wanting to practice and learn it, so thank you so much for your work, and after a talk with my teacher, I hope I will also become your sheet music customer and after some time even messenger of the amazing piece a and all the nice feelings and vibes within it. I don’t think any of our stuff so far is really that easy unfortunately, but we are trying to get some 4 1/3 octave marimba and vibe stuff out that is a little more accessible. The only problem is finding the time… 😅 Cody has a great marimba solo out named “Rayleigh,” but wouldn’t necessarily call that easy either.
